Portsmouth Town Hall Hours to Change in July
The Town Council and a labor union representing municipal workers have agreed to a change that adds night hours on Thursday.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—The Portsmouth Town Council and the labor union representing municipal employees who work at Town Hall have agreed to a change of hours at the building.
Town Administrator Richard A. Rainer said in a news release that the Portsmouth Municipal Employees Assocation/NEARI and the Town Council have come to an agreement to change the hours, which will include evening hours one night per week to better serve the public.
The change also gives workers an early end to the day on Friday, but the total of hours aren't changing.

The change won't happen until the first full week of July.
The new hours, which will be "standard for most offices," are:

Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Currently, Town Hall is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
