Police conducted a traffic study on Prudence Island and found the average was speed was 16 mph.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—Most drivers on Prudence Island obey the speed limit, the Portsmouth Police say. Officers conducted a traffic study after several residents complained. The study lasted 20 days. Police said they used radar/message boards and found the average driver was traveling at 16 mph. The posted speed limit is 20 mph, police said.
