Second Lecture on Portsmouth History Planned after Strong Demand
Portsmouth Historical Society President Jim Garman is coming back for a second lecture after numerous people couldn't get seats last week.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—Back by popular demand, Portsmouth Historical Society President Jim Garman returning to the Portsmouth Free Library on March 24 to give a lecture on Portsmouth's founding.
Garman came to the library on March 9 to give the lecture, which coincided with the display of the original 1638 Portsmouth Compact at Town Hall two days earlier on March 7.
"Several people asked me if I could repeat my lecture, so we are trying to accommodate them," Garman said. "I'm delighted to see so much public interest in our local history."
