SOUND OFF: How Far Is Your Commute To Work?
How far is your commute to work. Twenty miles? Fifty? Tell us in the comment section below.

Nationally, the number of people traveling more than an hour to work rose to 11.1 million in 2012. That’s up 300,000 from 2011.
Which is bad news, because extensive travel times are linked to an increased risk of developing high blood sugar and cholesterol, depression, anxiety and a feeling of social isolation.
Newscruncher, a daily series that breaks down the characteristics of your town by the numbers, found Portsmouth residents don't travel too far for work. Here's a map showing the farthest commuters in town:
Map: What Part of Town Has the Worst Commutes?
Regardless of the distance, commuters are mad. We asked Portsmouth Patch users on Facebook the following questions:
How long is your commute? What do you hate most about your commute?
Here's what a few of them had to say:
Danielle McCarthy I used to commute from Newport to Lincoln, MA everyday for about a year. The worst part was the drive home, at the end of a long day I just wanted to get home, but would sit in traffic on 95 & 24 for about two hours! It was awful.
Shawn O'Domski My commute is about 30 minutes if I take Route 24 to I-195 West. It's about 45 minutes if I go across the Mount Hope Bridge and up Metacom Avenue through Bristol and Warren. The only thing I hate about my commute is the toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge (if I take Route 24).
Jane Wolk Wheeler My commute is about 45 minutes. I am frustrated by the ever present daily traffic jam on 195 west from Seekonk to the Iway bridge despite the huge construction project designed to reduce traffic!
Jillane Duncan Portsmouth to Providence - Braga Bridge consruction is bad, as is 195W. There seems to be an accident or major backup in Providence almost daily.
Donna Wesoly Ridolfi My husband's commute has never been better! 15 minutes down Defense Hwy (Burma Rd) and he's there! It's great for quality of life.
