Teen Arrested for Alleged DUI, Drinking After Prom

Portsmouth police made the following arrests recently. 

Teen arrested after prom

Police arrested a 17-year-old Portsmouth woman for allegedly driving under the influence after prom.

Police stopped a vehicle early this morning at 3:30 a.m. 

Officer on patrol observed the vehicle on West Main Road turning onto Hedly, cutting off a vehicle. The officer followed the vehicle onto Hedly and saw the car began to drift in the travel lane. The officer stopped the vehicle.

The operator had a moderate aroma of alcohol. She failed a field test and was brought to police headquarters, where she allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test.

Police also found a closed bottle of Strawberry Smirnoff vodka. She told police she had been drinking after prom.

She was released to the custody of a parent.  

Passenger allegedly shoves officer 

Police arrested Kyle Mitchell, 21, of Bristol, on Tuesday, June 4, at 2:30 p.m., and charged with him with the following: simple assault, obstruction, resisting arrest and violation of a no-contact order. He was also wanted on a warrant by Bristol police for violating a court order. 

Police stopped a vehicle on the Rt. 24 on-ramp after it was seen speeding. An officer recognized the passenger, who was wanted on the warrant. 

The passenger told police he had a different name and date of birth. He later admitted he lied. As Mitchell stepped out of the vehicle, he allegedly shoved the officer and began to run. After a short foot chase, police handcuffed Mitchell, but he continued to resist arrest. 

Police later learned he had a no-contact order in connection with the driver, a 22-year-old Tiverton female. Mitchell was held overnight at the police station. 

Fifteen-year-old takes car for spin 

On June 5, at 10:15 p.m., a 15-year-old Portsmouth girl was arrested for allegedly driving without a license. Police were called to Elaine Avenue for a suspicious person in vehicle. Officers found a juvenile female in a parked car. 

The juvenile allegedly took the vehicle without permission. She was later released to the custody of her mother. 

Driver allegedly leaves scene of accident 

Julieann Meteraud, 54, of 706 Park Ave, Apt. 2, was arrested on June 6 at 12:40 a.m. for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident. 

Police were called to a crash on West Main Road at Hedly at 11:30 p.m. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The second vehicle fled the scene. 

The vehicle was later found at the suspect's residence.
