Truck Strikes Pole After Man Falls Asleep at Wheel
A vehicle struck a utility pole early Tuesday morning in Portsmouth.

A Tiverton man is fortunate to be uninjured today after the vehicle he was driving struck a utility pole, snapping at its base.
Police say a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, operated by Russell Murray of Tiverton, was exiting Route 24 South on Tuesday at 6:15 a.m. when the vehicle left the road.
According to police, the vehicle's operator fell asleep at the wheel. The pickup truck then struck a utility pole, which snapped at its base.

The driver, Murray, was transported by ambulance to Charlton Memorial Hospital for complaints of pain. No serious injuries were reported.
