Turnpike Avenue Playground Closed Due to Dangerous Tree

Parents and children are asked to stay out of playground as officials remove tree.

 

The playground at Turnpike Avenue is closed today due to a dangerous, leaning tree, according to the Portsmouth Fire Department. 

A rotted-out tree is leaning over the play equipment and could come down without warning, according to emergency officials.

The tree has been an issue for some time, but is said to be leaning over more today. Public Works is on the job and expected to have the tree down today. 

The police will be monitoring the playground as well. Parents, children and residents are asked to stay out of the playground until the tree is removed.
