Woman Dies After Crashing Car Into Portsmouth Home
Portsmouth police say the driver was extricated from her car after crashing into a home on Anthony Road.
PORTSMOUTH, RI — A woman died Sunday morning after crashing her car into a home in Portsmouth, according to police.
Just before 11 a.m., Portsmouth police and fire officials were called to a home in the 1,100th block of Anthony Road for a report of a crash. Police said the car struck the home, causing significant damage.
The driver was extricated from the car, suffered serious injuries and had to be rushed to Newport Hospital, police said. The woman, who police have yet to identify, died at the hospital.

Portsmouth police said the woman was the only person in the car. The home's residents were home when the crash happened, but police said no injuries were reported.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the woman was driving north on Anthony Road when her car left the road and struck the side of the home. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
