2013 Commencement ceremonyÂ
The ceremony will take place on Friday, June 7, at 6 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Memorial Field at Portsmouth High School, 120 Education Lane (weather permitting). Seniors should report to the PHS cafeteria no later than 5 p.m.Â

Inclement weather
In the event of inclement weather site, the ceremony will be held in the new Portsmouth High School gymnasium. A decision will be made on June 7 at 1 p.m. as to the location and is irreversible.
Each graduating senior will receive 7 inclement weather tickets. No other tickets are available and only those with tickets will be admitted to the PHS gymnasium. Inclement weather tickets will be distributed with the cap and gown at graduation rehearsal.Â
Where to park
Parking is available in the PHS parking lots, along the road to school and on Turnpike Avenue. Get there early for a good spot!Â
What seniors should wearÂ
Senior dress for graduation is slacks, shirt and tie for men and dresses, skirts, or dress pants for women. There may be no adornments on graduation caps or robes except school-issued Honor Society cords.Â
Caps and gowns
Caps and gowns will be distributed at the graduation rehearsal on Wednesday, June 5. The fee for participating in the graduation ceremony is $30 and may be paid to Mrs. White in the main office. The fee covers the cap, gown, tassel, class T-shirt, souvenir and a picnic lunch on Thursday.
Graduation photo
O’Connor Studios, the official photographer of Portsmouth High School, will be on hand to take an official portrait of each senior receiving his diploma. Prints will be available at a nominal charge. Parents are asked to please keep the area in front of the stage clear during the ceremony.Â
Any photos taken by parents, family and friends may also be uploaded straight to Patch during and after the ceremony! Just look for the graduation article and click the green "upload photos and videos" button.Â
Senior Prom
The senior prom will be held tonight, Wednesday, June 5, at the Ocean Cliff Resort in Newport from 6 to 11 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. No students will be admitted after 7 p.m.
Proper formal attire is required for admittance. Seniors bringing non-PHS students are responsible for their guests and must provide a signed guest registration form to one of our assistant principals prior to June 5. Tickets are $25.
Post Prom Party
The Post Prom Party will be held at the Newport Elks Club beginning at 11 p.m. and lasting until 4 a.m. All seniors and their dates are encouraged to attend the post prom. You do not have to attend the prom in order to attend the Post Prom Party. Students may enter any time before midnight, but may not re-enter.
