Here are the top stories today in Providence:

  1. Brown University is requiring all students and faculty to get a COVID-19 booster shot before the start of the spring semester, the school announced on Tuesday. The university sent a message to all members of their community letting them know that they must receive a COVID booster shot no later than January 26, or 30 days within becoming eligible for the booster dose. Also, in order to reduce academic disruption and health risks, they will be requiring all students to take a COVID-19 test two days before returning to campus. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
  2. An investigation is underway after a 20-year-old man was shot in Providence Monday evening, according to Providence Police Commander Thomas Verdi. The incident occurred inside an apartment on Manton Avenue around 6:15 p.m. Verdi said the victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition. (WPRI.com)
  3. A Cranston man was arrested after he stole a delivery truck that was parked outside a Providence liquor store Monday afternoon, according to Providence Police Commander Thomas Verdi. Verdi said 44-year-old Jeremy Fellela hopped into the driver’s seat of the truck, which was delivering what appeared to be bottles and kegs of beer to A to Z Liquors on Douglas Avenue, and started driving away.
