Here are the 3 top stories in Providence today:
- Yesterday morning, the City of Providence cleared a homeless encampment in response to complaints from local businesses. The city said it gave the people at the camp a verbal warning that they needed to leave prior to Friday morning. (The Boston Globe)
- A 20-year-old Pawtucket woman was charged with a DUI after police said she was responsible for a wrong-way crash that injured a person. The crash happened at about 11 p.m. Thursday on Route 146 just north of the Admiral Street off-ramp, according to police. Troopers say Dulcelena Tavares was driving a silver Nissan North in the southbound lane when the car hit another vehicle. (The Providence Journal)
- After a several-month shutdown due to COVID in 2020, Roger Williams Park Zoo rebounded. The zoo had record-breaking attendance in 2021 with a total of 834,960 visitors last year, which was an increase of 23.5 percent over 2019.
