Here are the top 3 stories today in Providence:

  1. WPRI 12 and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank teamed up on Dec. 16 for a Day of Giving, which raised $30,000 to replenish its pantries. The Food Bank says it’s currently serving more than 54,000 Rhode Islanders every month, and that number is growing as basic living costs like groceries, heating, and rent increase. The Food Bank said it’s had to purchase a third of its supply due to a lack of donations from retailers, wholesalers, and federal commodities this year, who normally supply the majority of their donations. However, they were able to meet the demand for food assistance through generous donors from the community. (WPRI.com)
  2. Save the date for Providence's free, outdoor signature arts festival, PVDFest 2022, which will be happening from June 10-12. The three days of PVDFest programming will once again culminate on Saturday, June 11 with live music, dance, food, and visual art installations that will transform downtown Providence. Since 2015, PVDFest has brought people from all corners of the globe together for a transformational arts experience. (Press Release Desk)
  3. An argument between two men in Providence ended with one of them being stabbed in the stomach. The stabbing occurred inside an apartment on Cambridge Street and the victim, a 34-year-old man, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. The suspect took off before police arrived on the scene. (WPRI.com)
