Here are the top three stories today in Providence:

  1. Police are investigating after a bank was robbed on the East Side of Providence on Tuesday. Just before 10:00 a.m., police were called to the Santander Bank at 131 Elmgrove Avenue and met with a bank teller who said the suspect passed a note announcing this was a robbery and ordered her to hand over cash. The suspect, who took the currency and fled, was around 5’8” with braids in his hair, and had a black leather jacket with fur around the hood. (GoLocalProv)
  2. A bullet grazed a man's head on Tuesday night during a shooting in Providence. The 24-year-old victim was found wounded on Jewett Street in the city’s Smith Hill neighborhood. Police investigated on the opposite side of Smith Street, near the corner of Candace and Goddard streets, but at this time, no arrests have been made. (WPRI.com)
  3. On Tuesday, La Salle Academy announced its next principal, marking a major transition and milestone for the school. Timothy Welsh will assume his position on July 1, 2022, succeeding Principal Donald Kavanagh who will retire at the end of this school year. Kavanagh has led the school for more than two decades.
