Here are the top three stories in Providence today:
- Beginning Jan. 27, the Wilbury Theatre Group will be presenting “The Floating World." The world premiere from Wilbury Theatre Group Resident Artist Andy Russ runs through Feb. 5, and will present a series of multimedia meditations on the elusivity of the human experience and the languages with which we try to explain it. The one-man-show will take place at the Wilbury Theatre Group Performance Space at WaterFire Arts Center. (What'sUpNewp)
- A Providence business owner has been charged with wage theft and check fraud. According to Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, 37-year-old Patricia Kenney, owner of And Celebrate LLC, allegedly failed to pay over $22,000 in wages to a former employee from 2018 to 2019. Kenney is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Jan. 19. (WJAR)
- East Providence police are investigating after a car crash left one person dead on Monday morning. At around 1:00 a.m., police were called to the scene at the intersection of Warren and Waterman Ave., where they found a car had driven into the woods next to the road and was upside down. The driver, 31-year-old Phillip Holub, died as a result of the crash. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
