GZA GeoEnvironmental heads to Ports25 in Providence
Top GZA engineers are offering multiple port and waterfront presentations at June 1-4 COPRI conference at the RICC

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading multi-disciplinary consulting firm providing geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water, and construction management services, announced that several of its engineers from Rhode Island and beyond will be offering presentations at the Coasts, Ocean, Rivers & Ports Institute (COPRI) Ports® ‘25 conference. It's being held at the Rhode Island Convention Center June 1-4.
GZA Associate Principal Cheryl W. Coviello has been selected by Ports® ‘25 organizers to co-deliver a day-long seminar June 1 on best practices for vessel berthing and mooring requirements and design loads for fixed marine structures such as piers, wharves, dolphins, and other port and harbor structures.

- Senior Project Manager Jim Marsland, Engineer Greg DiMillio, Senior Principal David Carchedi, and Senior Consultant Laurence Johnsen on placing and compacting 400,000 cubic yards of fill in the Thames River as part of the $310 million redevelopment of the Connecticut State Pier in New London, Conn.
- Senior Project Manager Kayla Newton and Associate Principal/Planning Practice Leader Kevin Williams with a poster on development of a master plan for the Port of Providence (ProvPort), including a 30-year capital improvement vision of Port growth and resiliency while addressing community health and benefits in relation to the port, environmental protection, and green and net-zero infrastructure improvements.
- Assistant Project Manager Alec Stanley, with Coviello and Senior Consultant Dino Fiscaletti, on designing the waterfront facilities for the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) purpose-built National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) in a small coastal Maine town.
- and Coastal Engineer Michael Gardner on Great Lakes erosion modeling and Assistant Project Manager Maria Pontiki and Principal Anders Bjarngard on optimizing beach nourishment strategies on a New England coastal barrier island.
GZA's Valley Street offices in Providence are among 32 company locations nationwide. At Ports25, GZA staff also be participating programs focused on conditions assessments of waterfront structures, vessel mooring and berthing, design and construction of large floating structures, planning and design guidelines for small harbors, and seismic design of piers and wharves.
