Victims Of Deadly Brown University Mass Shooting Honored With Candlelight Vigil: Report

The vigil was held at Lippitt Memorial Park, WPRI reported.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A candlelight vigil was held to honor the victims of the Brown University mass shooting, WPRI reported.

The Sunday night vigil at Lippitt Memorial Park was planned as a Christmas tree and Hanukkah menorah lighting, according to the network.

"We had planned to hold our holiday lights celebration and instead we are gathered here to share light with one another in one of Providence’s darkest times,” Providence City Councilwoman Sue Anderbois said in the WPRI story.

“Our hearts break for the two students at Brown who lost their lives to gun violence and the nine others who were injured,” Anderbois said. “We all know their biggest worry this week should’ve been finishing finals and getting home to their families for the holiday break.”

Two were killed and at least eight injured in the Saturday afternoon gun attack.

The Providence police have released enhanced images and videos of a person of interest in the shooting but he remains unidentified and at large.
