- Providence rapper Hammer Beanz was murdered on Saturday night on Huxley Street near Providence College. According to law enforcement sources, Beanz, whose given name is James Owens, was known to run with the so-called Harriet Street gang in Providence and rapped about living the "street life." Numerous friends and family members took to social media to express their condolences after Owens' murder. (GoLocalProv)
- Three people were rushed to the hospital following a Sunday morning fire at a Providence home. Crews were called to the three-family home on Plainfield Street around 10 a.m. Saturday, where they found two residents suffering from smoke inhalation and another with minor burns. The fire was confined to the first floor but all three levels were deemed unlivable, according to the fire department. The cause is still under investigation. (WJAR)
- Witches were spotted over Federal Hill as the cast and crew of "Hocus Pocus 2" shot on Atwells Avenue in Providence this weekend. Over the last few days, filmmakers have transformed the street into a set for the sequel to the 1993 Halloween cult classic, which has been filmed around Rhode Island since July. (The Boston Globe)
