Here are the top three stories today in Providence:
- A trial against a Providence man for a 2019 kidnapping and murder has been delayed due to the COVID-19 surge. Louis Coleman's trial was supposed to start at the end of February, however, the trial has been pushed to the spring, with opening arguments potentially set for May 9. Coleman has plead not guilty to abducting Jassy Correia, who was celebrating her 23rd birthday, outside a Boston nightclub and bringing her to his Providence apartment. (WPRI.com)
- Providence community members rallied together to say thank you to health care workers at The Miriam Hospital. Neighbors near the hospital gathered on Wednesday morning to offer support to health care workers as they continue to push through the wave from the omicron variant. Kids and families waved signs and yelled "thank you" as workers started their shift just before 7 a.m., and students at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School created thank you cards to give to their health care heroes. - Police are seeking the public's help in finding two suspects involved in a Providence bank robbery. On Jan. 13, a robber handed a teller a note demanding money at a Citizens Bank on Academy Avenue. Police are asking those with information to contact Detective Ricardo Silva. (WPRI.com)
