Here are the top three stories today in Providence:

  1. Providence Brewing Co. has announced the grand opening of their new taphouse in Providence’s Valley neighborhood, which is scheduled for Jan. 8. The taphouse, located at 10 Sims Avenue, will bring 16 taps of Rhode Island-made beer under one roof. Both dogs and kids are welcome at the new taphouse. (What'sUpNewp)
  2. Nearly 3,000 Providence students, teachers, and parents were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday ahead of the start of school. Testing took place at the Providence Career & Technical Academy on Fricker Street. The three-hour walk-in testing clinic was organized by the district to make it easier for teachers and students to get a test, however, those in line reported very long wait times. (WPRI.com)
  3. Providence City Councilman Michael Correia's car was among those targeted and ransacked on Sunday. An off-duty officer located the suspect, Michael Sedano after he saw the man checking vehicle handles on Chalkstone Avenue. Sedano resisted arrest when caught and hurled obscenities at officers, and will be charged with larceny and disorderly conduct as well as obstructing an officer in the line of duty. (GoLocalProv)
