PROVIDENCE, RI — Michael Chen, 40, of Providence, was arrested on Dec. 27 after he allegedly tried to pick up a shipment of marijuana, Wareham, Mass., police said. According to police, the shipping company, Cape Cod Express, contacted officers after two wooden crates arrived and were deemed suspicious. When Chen arrived to collect his shipment, police said, he agreed to allow detectives to conduct a search.

A trained police dog, "Dutch," helped with the search, police said. The dog and his handler, Ofc. Lee Desrosiers, were borrowed from the Bourne police.

Police allege they found marijuana packed in 60 plastic food saver bags in one crate, and another 52 bags in the other crate. Chen was charged with trafficking marijuana over 100 pounds. His new Ford truck was also seized. Police said it was recently purchased for cash and might be a forfeiture.
