Providence Man Sentenced After Being Caught With 2K Child Porn Images
Prosecutors say Juan Funes, 24, of providence, was also caught with around 300 videos of child pornography.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was sentenced Tuesday to two-and-a-half years in federal prison after admitting he was caught with more than 2,000 images of child sexual abuse.
The sentencing came after Juan Funes, 24, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography following his arrest in June 2019.
In April 2019, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children told police that Google had provided information that an account had been used to upload and store around 300 videos and images of child pornography. Prosecutors said the pornography included prepubescent children.

Rhode Island State Police and U.S. Homeland Security investigators later determined the account belonged to Funes, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said investigators searched Funes' home on June 4, 2019, and found 2,000 additional images of child sexual abuse on his cellphone.
Following Funes' prison sentence, he must serve eight years of federal supervised release.
