RI Police: 4 DUIs, 173 Speeding Tickets Memorial Day Weekend
Rhode Island State Police warned drivers there would be increased patrols Memorial Day weekend.
Rhode Island State Police arrested four people on suspicion of driving under the influence and issued 267 driving citations over Memorial Day weekend. Before the weekend started, State Police Col. James Manni warned police would increased patrols for the holiday.
"The Rhode Island State Police will do our part to keep our roadways safe," Manni said in a statement before the holiday. "We will have additional troopers on patrol throughout the holiday weekend to strictly enforce all motor vehicle laws — especially those involving driving while intoxicated by alcohol — or operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner that puts themselves and others at risk."

- Emmanuel D. Cabrera, 31, of Cranston, was arrested Tuesday morning in Providence after police said he crashed into a fire truck.
- Eduardo Ramos, 29, of Providence, was arrested Sunday at about 6:15 p.m. Police said he was clocked driving 69 mph in a 25 mph zone on Manton Avenue in Providence. Ramos was charged with DUI (first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving without a license and speeding.
- Henry Richard, 39, of Lincoln, was arrested Sunday at about 10:40 a.m. Police said he was pulled over on Route 146 in Providence after reportedly driving erratically and charged with DUI (first offense), refusal to submit to a chemical test, not wearing a seat belt, having no evidence of insurance and an inspection sticker violation.
- Melissa Titzmann, 56, of Richmond, was arrested Saturday at about 4:30 p.m. Police said witnesses reported she was weaving into oncoming traffic on South County Trail in North Kingstown. She was pulled over and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (first offense), having a blood-alcohol content of at least .15, not wearing a seat belt and lane violations.
Police also issued 170 speeding tickets, 80 citations for failing to wear a seat belt or use a child restraint device, 13 tickets for use of a handheld device and one citation for using an earphone or headset whole driving.
