1. A standoff that occurred early Thursday morning resulted in the death of 61-year-old Scott McLean who barricaded himself inside his home on Denison Street and then opened fire on officers. (WPRI.com)

3. William T. Nero passed away at age 87. He was the retired VP of Business Affairs at Providence College. (GoLocalProv)
