Teen Student Caught With Gun At Met School: Official
The 16-year-old was in possession of a firearm on school grounds, the city official said.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A teenage student was caught with a gun at the Met School, a city official said.
Police officers were called to the school about 11 a.m. Monday to investigate a "report of an article found," Providence Department of Public Safety Chief Public Information Officer Kristy dosReis said in an email.
"Upon arrival, school staff informed officers that a 16-year-old male student had been found in possession of a firearm on school grounds," dosReis said. "Staff had already detained the student and secured the weapon prior to police arrival."

The student was taken into custody and the firearm seized, dosReis said.
"The student’s mother was present at the school and cooperated with staff," dosReis said. "The student has been charged with possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a firearm on school grounds. He is currently being held at the Rhode Island Training School."
