  1. A pickup truck slammed into a utility pole in Providence late on Wednesday night. The crash occurred sometime after 10 p.m. on Atwells Avenue while it was snowing and caused power to go out in the neighborhood. The condition of the driver is unknown, and police have not said if the weather played a role in the crash. (WPRI.com)

Westerly Education Center in collaboration with Johnson & Wales University, Royce Associates, and nine restaurants in Rhode Island and Connecticut will be offering a free cooking course for adults. The course starts in Jan. and will provide skills and training, as well as job placement. Participants will be qualified to take the national ServSafe® Food Handlers and ServSafe ® Allergens exams.
