Here are the top three stories in Providence today:

  1. According to Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements, Providence convenience stores are being targeted for robberies. In the latest robbery on Tuesday, a man threatened a cashier with a large steel knife at Sam’s Food Mart on Manton Avenue and robbed the store of cash before fleeing. Clements has warned the public that it is dangerous to intervene and attempt to stop a crime yourself. (GoLocalProv)
  2. A Mega Millions ticket worth $3M was sold in Providence on Tuesday. The ticket was purchased at around 6:30 p.m. at the Daily Stop Mart on Charles Street in Providence. Five numbers matched and the ticket also had the correct multiplier. (WPRI.com)
  3. Windmill Street School's name has been changed to honor Councilman Nicholas Narducci and his family. The school, which has been renamed the “Narducci Learning Center,” has been known recently for several cases of fire, vandalism, and trespassing. According to the councilman, the school will be a "swing school," where students will attend when a school is shut down. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
