RI Woman Drunkenly Crashes With Infant Son In Car: Police
Scituate police say Jennifer Colon fell over during her field sobriety test. She had her 10-month-old son with her, according to police.
SCITUATE, RI — A Scituate woman was arrested Monday after police said she drunkenly crashed while her infant son was in the car.
Jennifer Colon, 41, was charged with two counts of child neglect/endangerment, DUI, reckless driving, simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
Police said they were called to Hope Furnace Road around 6 p.m. for reports of a car off the road with front-end damage and its airbags deployed.

Officers found Colon outside her car, holding her 10-month-old son. Police said Colon appeared intoxicated and nearly fell over several times.
According to police, Colon claimed she "only had two shots," before falling backwards during a field sobriety test. When emergency officials tried to help Colon up, kicked and struck them several times, police said.

Colon was then arrested and remained combative in the cruiser and at the station, police said.
Scituate police said the child looked as though he avoided injuries, but he was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence for evaluation. The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families was called and took custody of the baby.
Police said Colon suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment. Colon was later taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence after she arrived at the police station.
