Anytime Fitness Success Story: Walter Towner II

Meet the May success story from the local fitness club.

the 24-hour co-ed fitness club, is helping people find success, including their May Member of the Month, Walter Towner II.

Wally started at the Smithfield club on Dec. 4, 2012. His reason for joining the facility was our convenient location and the nice condition of the club. Wally had been thinking about getting into shape for about 3-4 months.

On Dec. 4, Wally weighed 235lbs and his goal was to simply get healthy.

During Wally's fitness consultation he made the decision to work with one of our trainers. Wally works with Kaj once a week and has learned new exercises and techniques that he uses on his own.

We have selected Wally for Member of the Month because of his dedication to his health and the amount of physical change we have seen with him.

Wally now weighs 224lbs and looks like a brand new man!

How are you feeling about yourself?

I feel good, I feel like I have a lot more energy now than I did. I feel better about myself too.

Did you change your diet, and how?

Yes, I tried to cut out a lot of the stuff I was eating. No fast food, lowered my carbs, and added more protein.

I received a nutritional guideline from the fitness manager and I used some of that to make changes.

What would be your advice to someone who is just starting out?

You have to have a goal in mind. You have to make the time and be disciplined about getting into the club. If you can't do that, there are plenty of people in the club that can help you.

Would you recommend working with a trainer?

Yes, he motivates me to want to eat better and be more active as well. I made it a point to follow the plan he made for me because I knew he takes pride in what he does and wants me to be proud too. Motivates me to want to be healthy.

What is your goal as of today?

I would like to be able to bench press 275lbs! I am currently at 205lbs.
