Martin Luther King - Monday is the national holiday honoring Martin Luther King. It's also a national day of service, a "day on, not a day off." The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve,  calling for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to the country's most pressing problems. How are you going to serve?

Flu - The annual outbreak of influenza is severe across the US and in RI this year. Luckily, if you haven't gotten a flu shot to protect against it this year, there's another clinic running tomorrow, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Smithfield Senior Center, 1 William J. Hawkins Trail.

State of the Town: Town Manager Dennis Finlay will present a State of the Town address Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. at Navigant Credit Union, 1005 Douglas Pike. Coffee and breakfast pastries will be served. There is no charge to attend the meeting, but registration is necessary  - register online at the Northern RI Chamber site.

Parent Committee The Parent Committee is seeking new members. The committee is an important way for parents to be involved in a child’s education. Parent involvement sets higher goals for the child and helps them appreciate learning both at home and at school. It’s a great opportunity to meet other TCW families. Come out Thursday, Jan. 24, 5-6 p.m. at 22 Cedar Swamp Road.

Trash - Normal scheduled pickups are one day later thanks to the Martin Luther King Holiday next week. (For example, for a Monday holiday, Monday pickup is Tuesday, Tuesday pickup is Wednesday ..and Friday pickup is Saturday.)
