High Wind Warning Issued For Smithfield

National Weather Service Alert In Effect Through 8 a.m. Thursday.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Smithfield and the rest of the state, beginning at about 9 p.m. tonight and lasting through the evening till 8 a.m. Thursday.

Strong southwest winds of 20 - 30 mph with gusts of 50 - 60 mph will move into our area later this evening. In addition to the wind, 3/4 inch - 1 inch of rain is possible with this system and some localized flooding may occur.

Smithfield EMA will be monitoring for power outages and coordinating with National Grid during the overnight hours.
