Wondering what business might soon be going in at 259 Putnam Pike next to Hess Express?
John Dell'Oro, owner of the lot, Is wondering that too. Recent construction at the site is making the site pad-ready, so that utilities and drainage are ready for a new tenant, he said.
At Town Hall, Peter Scorpio, building-zoning official, said the lot has all its permits in place, including permission for a drive through. Drive-throughs, Scorpio said, are a rare thing in Smithfield, But the lot fits all the requirements.
Smithfield zoning requirements for drive-throughs call for, in part, not requiring entering and exiting vehicles to back across any sidewalk or street, and no vehicles waiting on service should stop on a public street.
Dell'Oro said he won't let the drive through potential go to waste. "That's definitely one of the features that I'm trying to capitalize on," he said.
Dell'Oro said he's getting a lot of calls from curious business owners, but expects serious inquiries when the lot is ready for a tenant.
Dell'Oro said he's owned the property since 2007 but needed to work on completing another property in the Stillwater Business Park before he could work on this lot.
