Scouts Rally, Council Talks Water, Background Checks Thursday

Cub Scout Rally tonight - Cub Scout Pack 3 will host a rally Tuesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Greenville Baptist Church, 582 Putnam Pike, to give boys in every elementary school the opportunity to join Cub Scouts. Boys in grades 1-5 are invited to join. Cub Scouts typically meet two to three times a month in small den groups and monthly as a member of the Pack for an evening of activities, fun and games, skits, ceremonies and recognition.  

Council talks Georgiaville Pond water - Tonight, the Smithfield Town Council meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike, to discuss water levels at Georgiaville Pond

Background checks Thursday - The Smithfield Police Department is offering to run BCI checks for all parent volunteers free of charge. Please bring your photo ID and visit the Smithfield Police Department, Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to have your BCI check completed.

Smith-Appleby House Member Meeting - Smith-Appleby House Museum is hosting its Annual Membership Meeting  at the Smith-Appleby House Sept. 12, 2013, at 6:30 pm. 

If you are member, a past member, or thinking about becoming a member, you're invited.

One order is business is the election of officers. The following positions need to be filled:
* Treasurer
* Buildings
* Curator
* History
