Smithfield Businesses Can File Annual Reports Online To Make State's Sunday Deadline
Secretary of State's Office reminds business owners reports due to be dropped off today can be filed electronically as late as Sunday.

If you own one of the nearly 500 Smithfield businesses including professional services, retail and restaurants that need to file an annual report, you're running out of time to drop it off at the Secretary of State's office by end of business today.
But you can get a few extra days by filing online, according to the RI Secretary of State Ralph Mollis. "Because this year’s deadline falls on a Sunday, filing electronically gives you a couple of extra days to comply compared to dropping your reports off at our office," he said.

Filers can take advantage of the on-line option by visiting sos.ri.gov and clicking on “File Annual Reports.” Every corporation has been assigned its own unique Customer Identification Number and Personal Identification Number in order to ensure security.
Since Mollis added the on-line option a few years ago, more than half of all annual reports have been filed electronically. Annual reports can be filed on-line at late as 11:59 p.m. March 31 and still make the deadline.
