Smithfield Police: Burglars Pepper Sprayed, Moped Recovered, Dog Attacks Dog
The following information was supplied by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction:

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during Aug. 29-31:
Thursday, Aug. 29:
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to 11 Farnum Pike for a report of a stolen moped. The vehicle was later recovered by the Putnam, CT police department.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to the area of Rte. 44 for a report of a juvenile on a skateboard on the road.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield police took a report from a man who said his dog was attacked by another dog on McArthur Drive.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested David Gumpton, 26, for driving without a license.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to Deerhill Drive, where two males wearing dark clothing, one 5'8" and the other 6ft tall and muscular, were reported to be involved in a break-in. The subjects were pepper sprayed during the incident but were not captured.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Ann Marie Rugg, 44, charging her with obstruction. She also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a technical bail violation.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Anthony L. Morehead, 47, on a bench warrant for failing to appear to answer a charge of simple assault from the Providence Police Department.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Erick Bento, 28, on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court.
