Smithfield Police Log: April 19 Through April 21

Friday, April 19:

  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Maria Mendoza, 40, charging her with simple assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct.
  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police responded to the parking lot of Holiday Inn Express at 1010 Douglas Pike for a car accident, no injuries.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to car crash with minor injuries on George Washington Highway at Douglas Pike.
  • Smithfield Police responded to Douglas Pike at Whipple Road for a hit and run accident. 

Saturday, April 20:

  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police issued a citation to a Bryant University Student for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Mark F. Lesczyk on a bench warrant for failing to appear on a charge for driving with a suspended license.
  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police patrolman responded to Cox Communications for a report of suspicious activity. A customer from Woonsocket was very agitated while speaking with a customer service representative.
  • At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police issued a court summons for possession of marijuana to student being detained by Bryant Public Safety.

  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Richard G. Toles, 46, on two warrants: Failing to appear on a driving with an expired license charge, and failing to appear on a breaking and entering charge.
  • Smithfield Police responded to a breaking and entering at the Alpine Motel, 485 Douglas Pike.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded for a two-car accident in the parking lot of Hess Express on Putnam Pike.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Joseph Giroux for failing to appear for an arraingment on a charge of driving on a suspended license.
  • Smithfield Police responded for a report of numerous vandalism reports on cars at Bryant University.
