Smithfield Police Log: Larceny, Stolen Refund Check, ATV

The following information was supplied by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction:

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during Sept. 3-4:

Tuesday, Sept. 3:

  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Stiven Zapata, 18, at 9 Friendship Lane, charging him with larceny of less than $1,500 and conspiracy.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested a 15-year-old boy,  at 9 Friendship Lane, charging him with larceny of less than $1,500 and conspiracy.
  • At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police took a report from a Burlingame Road man who said he had been tricked into sending more than $5,000 through Western Union, possibly to Pakistan.
Wednesday, Sept. 4:
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police took a report from a Lark Road resident who said her tax refund check was stolen and cashed.
  • At about 11:45 p.m. Smithfield Police took a report from a man on Putnam Pike who said his 2005 Kawasaki ATV, painted with a camoflage pattern, was stolen.
