Smithfield Police Seek Credit Card Fraudster
Police said the suspect used a fraudulent credit card at several businesses at the Smithfield Crossing.

SMITHFIELD, RI—The Smithfield Police Department is asking the public for assistance identifying a man who used stolen credit card information to make purchases at local businesses.
Police said the suspect used the victim’s credit card information, likely with a cloned card, at several businesses at the Smithfield Crossing on Putnam Pike on Jan. 8.
The victim still had possession of his debit card when the crimes occurred, indicating that someone likely stole his card information from a credit card skimmer secretly installed at an ATM, gas pump or other card reading device somewhere.
