Thursday Five: Zoning Board Tonight, Ribbon of Hope Plate, Road Race Saturday

Happy Thursday - check out these things to know:

Zoning Board - The Smithfield Zoning Board will meet tonight, 7 p.m., at Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike. Among the items on their agenda, they'll consider variances allowing an accessory family dwelling on Karen Ann Drive, single family dwellings on Rocky Hill Road and Cross Street, and a variance allowing commercial animal raising with a resident caretaker at 57 Mountaindale Road.

Ribbon of Hope - Be one of the first topurchase a Ribbon of Hope license plate this Saturday at Brewed Awakenings in Johnston and Wakefield - and get the ball rolling on making the plates a reality for Rhode Islanders. Proceeds from the $41.50 plates go to aid under-insured and uninsured women in getting breast cancer screenings. That's important, especially in RI, where the rate for breast cancer is one in six, as opposed to the national rate, one in eight.
