Town Council - Smithfield's Town Council meets tonight, 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike. They've got a packed agenda, including a number of votes on victualling and holiday sales licenses and renewals of permits for three massage therapy businesses. They'll also consider asking for enabling legislation to create a consolidated water district between the Smithfield Water Supply Board and the East Smithfield Water District, pending voter approval.

Caffeine for soldiers - The Smithfield Senior Center is now collecting coffee and tea products to send to some of America’s finest men and women serving overseas. This is a small token to let them know we appreciate all they do. We will be collecting through the month of April.

Run for Children's Friend - Children’s Friend, Rhode Island's oldest child welfare organization and a leading provider of child and family support, mental health and child development services, is getting ready for its “11th Annual Children’s Friend 5K Walk &
Run Sponsored by Panera Bread” April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Roger Williams Park Boathouse, 1000 Elmwood Ave. in Providence. This year’s event will also feature fun activities for the kids, live entertainment and FREE breakfast and lunch from Panera Bread Catering. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Register your team at www.childrensfriendri.org to start raising funds today. “Like” Children’s Friend on Facebook at facebook.com/childrensfriendri. Participants can also donate right at the counter of any Panera Bread located in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts right up to the day prior to the event. In exchange for a donation of $1 or more, customers will receive a special Walk & Run wristband.
