Drunk Men on South Shore Beach, Road Not Wide Enough: Little Compton Police Log
Plus: a sign was defaced with "inappropriate graffiti" and removed from Long Highway, a mailbox was struck and other incidents.

LITTLE COMPTON, RI—There were no arrests last week in Little Compton, but local police did report several incidents and one accident.
Accident
On June 12, a 95-year-old Westport man's car was struck by a car being driven by a 53-year-old Fall River man at around 10:35 a.m. at Simmons Cafe.
Police said the Westport man was stopped in the road to let a car back out from a parking spot. The Fall River man was backing out of a different spot and didn't see the car in the roadway. The impact caused minor damage to both cars and nobody was hurt and everyone left the scene.

Incidents
A Willow Avenue resident told police on June 7 to report an identity theft.
On June 8, a resident told police a drunk man was trying to leave South Shore Beach. Officers arrived and "spoke with the person in question and the matter was resolved," according to police.

On June 8 at around 3:07 p.m., police responded to a Long Highway address to be present when a woman removed items from a previous residence.
An officer driving on Sakonnet Point Road on June 8 at 11:06 p.m. saw a trailer plate lying in the road. The plate was brought to police headquarters and its owner was contacted.
On June 10, police got a report that someone wrote "inappropriate graffiti" on a sign posted along Long Highway. Police seized the sign and returned it to headquarters.
A South Shore Road resident on June 11 told police at around 10:27 p.m. that someone struck his mailbox with a vehicle and left the scene. Police were unable to find the suspect vehicle and a report was filed.
On June 12, a Quaker Hill Farm Road resident said that even after construction to widen the road, it "was still not wide enough," according to a police report. The resident asked a report be made where he had to back up to let a vehicle pass causing him to strike construction tarps, police said.
Police responded to South Shore Beach on June 12 at 2:51 p.m. after a report of a drunk and disorderly man. Police made arrangements to get him a ride home and "the matter was resolved," according to police.
