Little Compton Volunteer Fire Department Get New Fire/Rescue Boat
New boat will help protect Little Compton and surrounding towns.
The Little Compton Volunteer Fire Department (LCVFD) and the Town of Little Compton, RI (The Town) announces the acquisition of a new Fire/Rescue boat to help in protecting the waters off Little Compton and the surrounding towns.
For the past year, the Volunteers have been working closely with the Little Compton Fire Department (LCFD) to choose and outfit the new rescue boat. Specifically, Lt. Graham Brewster (LCVFD) and Lt. David Wood (LCFD) have spent the last 12 months determining the right boat for the town and worked with Don’s Marine (Tiverton, RI) in outfitting it with the newest electronics and communication equipment.
The LCVFD is a Federal 501c3 and registered with the Rhode Island Secretary of State. Over the past number of years, one of the Volunteers many contributions is raising money in order to help provide the town with valuable equipment to help the people of Little Compton.

In part, the current equipment consists of the (soon to be old) Fire Boat (Marine 1), a smaller inflatable rescue boat (Marine 2), the second ambulance (Rescue 2), and the back-up ambulance (Rescue 3). The larger and more valuable equipment is leased to the town to use for 1$ per year each, while many smaller items are simply lent to the town.
The newest ambulance (Rescue 1) was purchased by the town with a $175,000 donation from the Little Compton Volunteer Fire Department last year upon the town’s request in order not to enter into a lease agreement.
