NWS Issues Flood Advisory for Parts of RI

The advisory calling for heavy rain.

On Monday morning, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Advisory for the Kent County area of Rhode Island that will be in effect until noon.

Extreme southwestern Newport County, southwestern Providence County and Washington County, including South Kingstown, are also included in the advisory.

At 9:07 a.m., Dopplar Radar indicated thunderstorms with torrential rainfall with possible rates of two inches per hour. This will result in urban and poor drainage street flooding.

The NWS warns residents to not drive vehicles into areas where water covers the roadway as the water depth may be to great to cross safely.
