Scout, the autonomous transatlantic robot built by a team of Tiverton innovators, appears to be adrift at sea, reports EastBayRI.com.
The unmanned vessel, which launched in August from Fogland Beach, is now adrift 1,000 miles from home in the Atlantic Ocean, not far from the final resting place of the Titanic, according to EastBayRI.com.
"Yikes. Looks like last position data indicate Scout is still scribing (perhaps a Z) and she's not yet ready to head to Spain," posted Brendan McNally on Scout's Facebook page Wednesday.
If Scout can find its route again and get back on track, the boat would become the first unmanned boat to cross the Atlantic Ocean above water.
