Shark Sightings Close Beaches in Nearby Massachusetts

Beaches in Massachusetts' south shore reopened on Thursday after several shark sightings prompted the closure of three beaches.

Three Massachusetts beaches - including nearby Horseneck Beach - were closed to swimmers on Wednesday after a fisherman reported shark sightings.

After a man reported seeing two separate sharks off of Gooseberry Island, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation closed three nearby beaches to swimmers, according to wpri.com.

Swimmers were removed from Horseneck Beach, Demarest Lloyd State Park and Gooseberry Island.

A DCR spokesman told wpri.com that beaches would reopen to swimmers on Thursday.
