Site-Ready To Stop Accepting Fall River Recyclables

Site-Ready Materials lawyers told Tiverton officials the company would stop receiving single-stream recyclables from Fall River during a hearing on Friday in Newport County Superior Court.

The town levied a complaint against Site-Ready Materials on Monday, Feb. 25 allegeing that the Eagleville Road company was engaging in trash recycling and transfer, quarrying, and the composting of yard waste without the proper permits and in violation of town zoning ordinances.

After Site-Ready conceded on the recycling, lawyers for Tiverton said the town would no longer pursue a restraining order against alleged quarrying on the company’s Eagleville Road property, reports the Fall River Herald.

Site-Ready agreed to discontinue the recycling transfer operation at its 322 Eagleville Road facility within the next 45 days.

Site-Ready did not admit to violating any town ordinances as the two parties entered into the agreement at Friday's hearing.

The two parties will return to court again on April 26, and the court will determine whether Site-Ready’s recycling and alleged quarrying operations are legal under Tiverton’s current zoning ordinances.

Tiverton Town Solicitor Andrew Teitz said the town at that time would seek a permanent removal of the quarrying operation, reported the Herald.

The town's complaint states that the activities are being conducted within a watershed zone and pose "a threat to public health, safety, and the general welfare of the citizens of the Town of Tiverton.”
