Tiverton Community Chorus Donates $1,000 to Tiverton Library Foundation

After experiencing its most successful concert series ever this past December, the Greater Tiverton Community Chorus donated its $1,000 in proceeds to the Tiverton Library Foundation.

All of the net proceeds from The Celtic Christmas Concert performances were donated to assist in raising funds to pay for the construction of the town's new library.

Buzz Brownlee, chorus President expressed gratitude for the support Tiverton residents provided to the Greater Tiverton Community Chorus.

“In response, as when in 2010 we raised funds to provide the Tiverton Public Schools with a functioning piano, the Chorus voted unanimously to gift the net proceeds of their Tiverton concert to the Tiverton Library Foundation for the new public library,” said Brownlee.

On Feb. 6, Brownlee presented the check for $1,000 to Ann Grealish-Rust, library director, and Eileen Browning, foundation chair.

"We are so grateful to the chorus," said Browning, after accepting the check. "Their generosity is heartening as we enter the last stretch of the campaign - with only 5 percent left to raise!"

The Greater Tiverton Community Chorus is a non-auditioned choral group made up of 80 individuals from the greater Tiverton area. The chorus meets weekly at the Amicable Church in Tiverton and performs concerts in the Winter and Spring.
