State Senator Punched At Roe V. Wade Rally Wins Warwick Primary Race

WARWICK, RI — Jennifer Rourke has won the Democratic primary race for State Senator in Rhode Island's General Assembly District 29, according to the state Board of Elections.

At times during this campaign cycle, Jennifer Rourke's candidacy was overshadowed by controversy she was at the center of, but didn't cause.

While speaking at a Roe V. Wade rally in Providence the same day the Supreme Court overturned the measure, Rourke was punched by off-duty Providence police officer Jeann Lugo, who at one time was a potential political opponent as well.

As for Rourke's campaign for State Senator in Rhode Island's General Assembly District 29, she held strong against Michael Carreiro, with a victory of 1,542 to 1,310.
