Devin Silva, 20, was arrested following a 1 p.m. motor vehicle stop at the 930 block of Toll Gate Road, said Warwick Police Capt. Joel Thomas. Silva was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a Schedule 2 drug, and was issued a citation for marijuana possession.

The vehicle was initially stopped because the license plate did not match the car, said Thomas. The officer who conducted the stop detected the aroma of marijuana, learned that the female driver did not have a valid license, and determined that the car was unregistered. The car was towed and searched. The female driver was released on summons at the scene, and Silva was placed under arrest.

Silva was released Thursday on $2,500 surety bond and is due in court for a felony screening on June 14, Rhode Island Judicial Records show.
