Woman Arrested For Arson In Warwick Apartment Complex Fire

WARWICK, RI β€” A 28-year-old woman has been charged with first-degree arson in connection with a devastating Feb. 13 fire at the Les Chateaux Apartments. The early morning fire at 1403 Warwick Ave. displaced 60 people.

Aiyana Milton, 28, of Old Post Road in Charlestown, was arrested, arraigned in Kent County District Court on Thursday, and ordered held without bail, according to a media release from Captain Ryan Sornberger of the Warwick Police Detective Division.

The investigation revealed that a single person, who was temporarily staying at the complex, was responsible for intentionally setting the fire, the release said. It is believed that the fire was ignited in an unoccupied storage area in the lower level of the complex.

On Feb. 13 at around 3 a.m. fire broke out at the apartment complex, displacing 49 adults and 11 children, WPRI reported.
