The future of Westerly is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Camden Kelly, who are making a positive impact in and around Westerly.

Camden Kelly, Westerly High School's Class of 2024 valedictorian, stands out as a young leader thanks to his dedication to academics, extracurricular involvement and civic engagement. A lifelong Westerly resident, Camden excelled as class president for four years and held numerous leadership roles, including serving as student council vice president and president of the School Improvement Team. His contributions extended beyond the classroom, where he promoted equity and community participation as a student liaison with the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s office. These efforts earned him prestigious accolades, including the Lt. Governor’s Leadership Award and a Civic Leadership Award.

In addition to his leadership roles, Kelly balanced a rigorous schedule that included sports, academics and part-time work at Dog Watch in Stonington and Mystic. He also spearheaded initiatives to make school events more inclusive, organizing fundraisers to reduce senior year costs and strengthen school spirit. Camden is currently a Vanderbilt University student on a full tuition scholarship as a Chancellor’s Scholar, exploring interests in economics, public policy and potentially law.
